Our tier 1 Water contractor client are seeking Senior Estimators on a permanent basis to support their Southern Water projects with remote and hybrid working considered.
Our client helps Water companies safeguard water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. They enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards.
This role will be within the water and wastewater capital project delivery team. These teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.
As Senior Estimator you'll be part of an estimating team reporting to the Managing Estimator South on the Southern Water Framework. You'll be responsible for delivering accurate and timely estimates across a mix of one-off projects, packages of work for both Infrastructure Clean and Wastewater.
The location of the role could either be home based, office based or a combination of both dependant on the work needs and home location.
Responsibilities
- You'llprovide estimating support with bids and contracts. Ensuring robust pricing, risk management and governance.
- Assist and advise the Senior Management Team on commercial influences and risks around any bids.
- You'll need to liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to produce accurate and timely estimates/cost data.
- Ensure, where possible, supplier/subcontractor terms are back-to-back with the client requirements, and, if not, to impact assess any deviations.
- Prioritising workload and assisting the team to produce results in a timely manner to meet business needs.
- Day to day liaison with, and influencing of, key stakeholders, such as customers and operational colleagues.
- develop and implement changes to process, following understanding of a need to make changes to improve performance.
Skills/qualifications/experience
- Preferably degree qualified in engineering, Quantity Surveying, cost & planning or similar
- Experience within the water industry is essential, preferably within both water and wastewater environments, but also advantageous to have other utility estimating experience
- Preferably experience of delivering water and/or wastewater projects
- Ability and desire to identify opportunities and influence change
- Ability to react to constant workloads and delegate accordingly
- Commercial and contractual knowledge and understanding
- Able to follow process and governance
- Knowledge of estimating tools and techniques
