Senior Civil Engineer (Rail)

A leading UK rail engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its expanding team. The Role

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will contribute to the successful delivery of diverse and complex civil engineering projects within the rail sector. Working alongside a highly skilled team, you will champion technical excellence, support junior engineers, and play a central role in shaping project outcomes. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare outline and detailed designs for a broad range of civil engineering projects
  • Lead and support check/approve processes throughout project delivery
  • Undertake designer duties in accordance with CDM/CSM legislation
  • Engage with clients to support effective project delivery
  • Contribute to business improvement initiatives and wider company objectives
  • Maintain ongoing professional development
  • Mentor and support junior engineering staff

Required Experience

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) with ICE, IStructE or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience in civil engineering, ideally with experience acting as CRE or working towards CRE status
  • Strong background in civil engineering design within the rail industry, including familiarity with Network Rail standards
  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Solid understanding of civil design principles, construction methods, and relevant standards
  • Experience working with Eurocodes
  • Proven ability to deliver projects in line with safety standards and CDM/CSM requirements
  • Commercial awareness, including programming and delivery to budgets and timescales
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as TEDDS and Supersuite
  • Ability to produce and review drawings using 2D/3D MicroStation
