We are currently seeking one Skilled Painter to join our aerospace facility on the early shift.

Role Overview

As a Skilled Painter, you will contribute to the production of high-quality metallic and composite aircraft components and assemblies, ensuring all work meets technical and manufacturing specifications.

Main Duties:

  • Mask components according to technical drawings and plans

  • Mix and apply specialist fillers and paint systems (primer, topcoat, anti-abrasion, gloss finishes)

  • Perform manual abrading and orbital sanding

  • Apply edge sealing and resins

  • Operate curing booths and monitor curing cycles

  • Conduct quality checks (e.g., tape tests, isoscope, gloss measurement)

You will work independently, maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy, while contributing to a proactive, safety-conscious, and collaborative team environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety: Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area. Follow all EHS policies and promptly report any incidents.

  • Quality: Ensure all work meets required specifications and quality standards.

  • Clocking & Booking: Record all working time and job costings accurately.

  • Cost Management: Support cost-saving initiatives through efficient, waste-reducing work practices.

  • Knowledge & Skills: Keep training current and maintain approved operator stamps as required.

  • Teamwork: Take part in team meetings, assist colleagues, and share technical knowledge.

  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to improvements in safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance.


Essential Requirements

  • Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant trade

  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to interpret technical documentation

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail

  • Sound understanding of Health & Safety standards

  • Positive, proactive attitude with good problem-solving ability

  • Flexible, adaptable, and eager to learn

  • Reliable with excellent timekeeping and work ethic

  • Understanding of 5S and lean manufacturing principles

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Competent in relevant departmental skill codes

  • Basic IT literacy


Desirable

  • Previous painting experience within aerospace or other manufacturing environments

Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK adhering to ITAR restrictions and successful candidates must undergo baseline security clearance
