Our client, is currently seeking a dedicated Highway Inspector to join their team on a contract basis. This role requires a full-time presence in the designated area during weekdays, ensuring the Local Authority meets its statutory obligations in highway inspection, assessment, and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, assess, and prioritise reactive maintenance works on the highway to ensure user safety.
- Conduct systematic regimes of inspection, assessment, and maintenance in accordance with the Highways Act 1980.
- Order necessary works to maintain the highway network in a safe condition.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, policy, codes of practice, procedures, and standards.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for liability management and future reference.
- Assist with processing third-party insurance claims and provide necessary records and evidence.
- Establish effective working relationships with client officers, elected members, the general public, and other stakeholders.
- Investigate stakeholder enquiries within prescribed timescales and provide potential solutions to problems.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in highway inspection and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of the Highways Act 1980 and related statutory duties.
- Ability to conduct thorough inspections and assess maintenance priorities.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Knowledge of legal protocols and procedures related to highway maintenance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
