Our client, a prominent consulting firm in the highways sector, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer - Building Services (M&E) to join their team on a contract basis. This role involves working on various projects, primarily within healthcare and education, and occasionally residential sectors in Ireland. The position allows for remote working, with rare visits required to Manchester or locations in Galway, Cork, or Dublin.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design of electrical building services and infrastructure
- Tendering and coordination of design activities in conjunction with project design teams
- Management and mentoring of junior staff
- Acting as key contact with clients and other design team members
- Preparation of fee proposals and management of fees
Job Requirements:
- Minimum Level 8 qualifications in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (such as Energy or Building Services)
- Chartered Engineer status or a clear pathway towards achieving this
- Strong technical ability in all aspects of electrical engineering services and design
- Proven track record of success, ideally in a design consultancy environment
- Knowledge and experience of current electrical design standards
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office Suite, and specialist electrical design software packages (e.g., Amtech, Dialux)
- Experience in client, vendor, and contractor interaction and management
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a multifunctional project team
Duties Include but are not limited to:
- Lead engineering design on projects as part of an integrated project team
- Design and specification of electrical engineering solutions to current regulations and design standards
- Work directly with clients and project engineers to lead technical solutions
- Lead pre-construction engineering activities and production of information, including design development, construction details, services coordination, technical submittals, sub-contracts, etc.
- Provide off-site technical support to construction teams on projects
- Assist with the preparation of fee proposals for private and public clients
- Assist with resource and fee management
