A North London Council is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join its Traffic & Engineering Service. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with strong local authority experience and the ability to design using AutoCAD, who can confidently deliver traffic and transport schemes from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist traffic engineering services, taking schemes from feasibility through to implementation.
- Produce high‑quality designs using AutoCAD.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff.
- Manage and oversee the development of a range of projects within the Traffic & Engineering Service.
- Ensure schemes meet statutory requirements, safety standards, and council objectives.
You will contribute to a wide range of ongoing programmes, including:
- Low Traffic Neighbourhoods
- Bus and cycle infrastructure improvements
- Road safety schemes
- Parking and traffic management improvements
Requirements
- Proven experience working within a local authority traffic or highways engineering team.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Ability to manage projects independently and mentor junior colleagues.
- Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, regulations, and best practice.
