Our client is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their friendly team in Cardiff. This permanent role focuses on leading the Drainage Infrastructure team and delivering Civil Engineering designs on a range of challenging projects. With an emphasis on Sustainable Urban Drainage and conventional surface water drainage design, the role offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment alongside an Associate Director. The position is both diverse and fulfilling, providing ample opportunities for solving complex engineering problems and contributing to impactful projects. Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the delivery of Civil Engineering design on infrastructure projects, focusing on drainage systems
  • Providing technical support and resource planning in line with Integrated Management Systems
  • Managing and mentoring a team with varying levels of experience
  • Engaging in Water Authority statutory approval processes and SuDS Approval Body approvals
  • Building and maintaining relationships with statutory bodies such as Natural Resources Wales and the Environment Agency
  • Ensuring prioritisation of tasks and deliverables to effectively meet client needs
  • Utilising 3D design software for modelling and design work
  • Collaborating with other team members to effectively deliver projects

Job Requirements:

  • Experience with surface and foul water design/construction to Sewers for Adoption and Design Manual for Roads and Bridges
  • Civil Engineering degree, preferably a Masters
  • Near completion or holding Professional Qualification with ICE or CIWEM
  • Proficiency in 3D design and modelling software, including MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, AutoCAD, Civils 3D, and Autodesk ICM
  • Knowledge of National Planning Policy and Infrastructure design requirements related to flood risk management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong initiative and methodical approach to work
