Our client, in the highways sector, is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. Key Responsibilities:
- Developing concept and feasibility designs for highway projects
- Producing detailed design packages compliant with DMRB, LTN 1/20, and local authority standards
- Preparing drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities
- Coordinating with road safety, drainage, and traffic signals teams to ensure seamless integration
- Managing stakeholder expectations, including councillors, residents, and internal colleagues
- Ensuring designs are technically sound, safe, and buildable
- Aligning designs with wider network strategies and project goals
Job Requirements:
- Significant experience in highway engineering and design
- Strong understanding of the highway sector and relevant standards including DMRB and LTN 1/20
- Experience in producing comprehensive design packages and technical drawings
- Knowledge of stakeholder management and effective communication skills
- Familiarity with highway safety, drainage, and traffic signal coordination
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment
- Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent
