Our client, a leader in the defence and security sector, is seeking a skilled FPGA Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This role offers the opportunity to work within a high-technology environment, contributing to critical projects that enhance national security. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in FPGA development and a solid understanding of digital hardware design, working on complex embedded systems and hardware acceleration solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimise FPGA hardware modules for advanced defence and security applications
  • Translate system requirements into FPGA logic and architecture
  • Carry out simulation, testing, and validation of FPGA designs to ensure performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to integrate FPGA solutions
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including design specifications and test plans
  • Identify optimisation opportunities to improve FPGA efficiency and performance
  • Support in troubleshooting hardware issues and implementing corrective actions
  • Maintain an understanding of industry standards and best practices within FPGA development

Job Requirements:

  • Significant experience in FPGA design and development, with a strong grasp of VHDL or Verilog
  • Understanding of digital signal processing, embedded systems, and hardware description languages
  • Experience with FPGA synthesis and implementation tools such as Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital design and interface protocols
  • Ability to interpret system requirements into FPGA architecture
  • Proactive problem solver with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively across technical teams
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in electronics, computer engineering, or related fields
