Base: A41 Compound (just outside Aylesbury)
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent

3 days in the office, 2 days at home


The Opportunity


Matchtech are seeking to recruit a Health & Safety Advsior to join a well‑established team supporting the safe delivery of a major HS2 work package. Based from the A41 compound near Aylesbury, you'll work closely with the section SHW Lead and on‑site operational teams to continuously drive safety standards and promote a positive SHW culture across the project.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of Europe's largest infrastructure programmes, where your work will directly influence performance, behaviours, and safety outcomes on the ground.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support and promote both Corporate and Local SHW Campaigns across the delivery area.
  • Build strong relationships with operational teams and the supply chain to monitor and improve SHW performance.
  • Carry out Site Safety Inspections across all live activities and identify trends, patterns or anomalies.
  • Track and advise on the close‑out of audit findings, inspections, investigations and corrective actions.
  • Provide the SHW Manager with insight into recurring issues to inform local initiatives and performance improvements.
  • Communicate and apply the relevant content of the Business Management System to ensure consistent compliance.
  • Ensure project teams follow NEC processes including EWN/PMI requirements (where applicable).

About You


We're looking for a proactive safety professional with strong engagement skills and the ability to influence behaviours on fast‑moving civils projects.
Essential:

  • NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent)
  • TechIOSH status or higher
  • Strong knowledge of SH&W on major construction or large-scale civil engineering projects
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Valid CSCS card - White, White/Yellow, Red (Experienced), Black or Gold
