Role Overview
A London‑centric Building Inspector role with a strong residential workload (80%) and a smaller commercial element (20%). The position suits inspectors who enjoy varied site work, technical problem‑solving and working closely with contractors and design teams across London's fast‑paced built environment.
Residential Responsibilities (80%)
Inspect new‑build homes, extensions, and loft conversions across London and the Home Counties.
Assess compliance with building regulations and approved documents.
Produce clear inspection notes and maintain accurate digital records.
Liaise with homeowners, contractors, architects and developers to resolve compliance issues.
Identify defects, risks and non‑compliance, offering practical, solution‑focused guidance.
Commercial Responsibilities (20%)
Inspect shops, retail units and larger commercial buildings within Class 2D scope.
Review plans for structural, fire safety, accessibility and energy compliance.
Support senior inspectors on more complex commercial schemes.
Skills & Experience
Registered Building Inspector - Class 2A or Class 2D.
Strong understanding of building regulations across residential and commercial sectors.
Experience conducting site inspections and producing clear, structured reports.
Ability to interpret architectural, structural and technical drawings.
Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
Organised, proactive and comfortable managing a varied London‑based workload.
Desirable Attributes

Salary
