Our client, a leader in the space sector, is currently seeking AIT Technicians to join their team in Harwell.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and integrate mechanical and electrical components, sub-assemblies, and systems according to technical drawings and work instructions
  • Perform electrical wiring, cable harnessing, and connector terminations following industry standards
  • Perform soldering and rework activities following industry standards
  • Create and maintain risk assessments
  • Record test data accurately and complete all required documentation
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot assembly or test issues, supporting engineering in root-cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and ESD-safe working environment
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, environmental, and quality assurance procedures
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the AIT department

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in a hands-on assembly, integration, or test role
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Strong practical skills in mechanical fitting, wiring, and assembly
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Experience using hand tools, torque tools, and test instruments
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
  • Good problem-solving and fault-finding abilities
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of health & safety and cleanroom/ESD practices
  • Fibre optics handling and cleaning experience
