Our client, a leading consultancy in the nuclear sector, is currently seeking a Lead Piping Engineer on a contract basis. As a Utilities Delivery Partner, our client's role will include the completion of detailed design and all procurement, installation, construction, commissioning, and handover activities that form part of the contract delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of piping design and engineering aspects of the programme, ensuring compliance with nuclear licensed site requirements
  • Lead and manage a team of piping designers, ensuring timely, budget-compliant, and technically sound designs
  • Ensure all designs are safe, sustainable, and efficient to construct
  • Establish collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Embed principles of carbon minimisation and Production Thinking into design solutions
  • Ensure regular reporting on design progress and technical risks
  • Oversee management of piping design change to prevent unnecessary or disruptive changes
  • Provide judgement and advice to create optimised solutions and meet programme objectives

Job Requirements:

  • SC Clearance is desirable but potentially candidates can be put through this
  • Extensive experience in piping engineering and utility infrastructure design
  • Experience in technical management and review of piping deliverables
  • Knowledge of UK legislation and standards for the nuclear sector
  • Awareness of risk identification, quantification, management, and HSE requirements
  • Experience in implementing and delivering strategic objectives and dealing with change

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or management apprenticeship with relevant industry experience
  • Chartered member of a professional institute (e.g., IMechE)
  • Project management training or skills
