Our client is seeking a Senior Drainage Engineer to join their team on a contract basis, working within the highways sector. This is an exciting opportunity to utilise your expertise in drainage engineering on significant projects, primarily focused on building and development, such as schools and residential areas. The position can be based from multiple office locations with some flexibility for remote work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering and reviewing complex drainage and water designs, including calculations, drawings, models, specifications, and reports.
- Leading technically challenging elements, ensuring compliance with standards, regulations, and sustainable design practices.
- Coordinating multi-disciplinary designs, identifying and resolving integration and constructability issues.
- Identifying, assessing, and managing technical risks, recommending mitigation strategies.
- Conducting site visits, inspections, and investigations to inform design and resolve technical issues.
- Maintaining and developing technical expertise in drainage, SuDS, flood risk, and sewer design.
- Supporting the preparation of fee estimates, programmes, and budgets.
- Mentoring and guiding junior engineers and technicians.
- Fostering an inclusive, supportive, and diverse team environment.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in water, drainage, and SuDS design.
- Proficiency with InfoDrainage and Civil 3D software.
- Understanding of CDM Regulations, Building Regulations, Building Safety Act, and Party Wall Act.
- Familiarity with CIRIA C753 SuDS Manual and sewer adoption processes.
- Experience of Flood Risk Assessment and sustainable drainage strategies.
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) status preferred.
- Project management training (e.g., APM, PRINCE2) is advantageous.
Additional Information:
- Location: Ipswich, Exeter, Liverpool, Norwich, or Salford.
- Office attendance required 2 days per week with potential for remote work.
- Contract start: 2nd March (3-month rolling).
- Working hours: 37.5 weekly, with core hours between 9:30am and 4pm.
