The Opportunity
The M&E Regional Lead is a pivotal technical leadership role responsible for ensuring that all electrical and mechanical operations within the Southern region are executed with the highest levels of safety and regulatory compliance.
You will head a dedicated team of engineers, serving as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) and providing expert guidance on complex technical challenges. This position is ideal for a professional who enjoys a blend of high-level oversight and hands-on technical management, with the chance to influence the future development and expansion of a modern data centre estate.
Location & Travel
This role is focused on the Southern region, with primary activities centred around sites in Croydon, Maidenhead, Reading, or Fareham. While you may be based out of one of these key locations, the nature of the role requires regular travel across these and other regional sites to ensure consistent operational standards and provide technical leadership.
Primary Responsibilities
- Technical Oversight: Directing high-risk M&E operations, including maintenance schedules and energy efficiency initiatives.
- Risk Management: Upholding rigorous safety protocols to protect personnel and ensure uninterrupted service.
- Leadership: Mentoring regional M&E engineers and providing expert support to Data Centre Managers.
- Compliance: Managing adherence to all statutory requirements, such as F-Gas, PSSR, and LOLER.
- Operational Control: Overseeing the regional risk register, approving critical change requests, and leading root cause investigations following any incidents.
- Strategic Input: Collaborating on asset lifecycle strategies and suggesting technical improvements to enhance building performance.
Candidate Profile
- Education & Experience: A degree is preferred, though candidates with over six years of specialised experience in similar environments are encouraged to apply.
- Technical Qualifications: You must possess formal electrical training (such as City & Guilds) and hold an AP15 qualification with experience acting as an HV Authorised Person.
- Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in mission-critical data centres is essential, ideally supported by a data centre management certification or ITIL Foundation.
- Regulatory Familiarity: A comprehensive understanding of UK health and safety laws and ISO standards.
- Soft Skills: Excellent stakeholder management abilities and a proactive, analytical approach to problem-solving under pressure.
- Mobility: A full UK driving licence is required for travel between various regional sites.
