Our client, a leader in the utilities, digital, and energy markets, is seeking a Lead Design Engineer to join their team supporting strategically important power infrastructure projects. This role involves managing multi-disciplinary design teams and overseeing the delivery of high voltage (11kV to 132kV) substation and circuit projects within a major Distribution Network Operator (DNO) framework. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring project designs are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards, from initial feasibility through to detailed design. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate internal and external design teams across electrical, civil, protection, and cable disciplines
- Manage project delivery ensuring designs meet safety, quality, and stakeholder requirements
- Oversee all phases of design, from feasibility to detailed execution, adhering to DNO standards
- Collaborate closely with DNO stakeholders, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project flow
- Promote safety and technical excellence in every aspect of project delivery
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field
- Chartered Engineer or actively working towards chartership
- Significant experience managing multi-disciplinary design teams on HV infrastructure or substation projects
- Understanding of DNO design policies, processes, and approval routes
- Proficiency in electrical engineering design software and tools
