Senior Project Professional (Social Impact) - 6 month contract (likely to be extended) - Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria (required onsite 3 days per week) - £31.36 ph UMB or £23.39 ph PAYE (Inside IR35)

The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.

The Role

The Future Workforce Enablement Lead will act as the central coordinator and interface between the business and external stakeholders, ensuring that workforce-related needs of BAE Systems and DNE (Defence Nuclear Enterprise) are clearly defined, communicated, and met through effective partnerships.

The role also ensures that in meeting these internal needs, the business proactively manages any potential negative impacts on the external economic, social, and environmental ecosystem - safeguarding our social licence to operate and supporting sustainable, inclusive growth in the communities in which we operate.

Primary Objectives

  • Business Enablement: Coordinate and manage external stakeholder relationships and partnerships to ensure that workforce, capability, and skills needs of the business and the DNE are effectively met.
  • Responsible Impact Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate any adverse social, economic, or environmental impacts arising from workforce-related activities and partnerships, ensuring alignment with our values, community commitments, and sustainability principles.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Act as the central coordination point for workforce-related external engagement and partnership activity when specific to infrastructure and connectivity
  • Partner with internal programme teams and external providers to ensure timely establishment of critical workforce enablers such as accommodation and transport links.
  • Ensure alignment between internal workforce priorities and external ecosystem activities, influencing external agendas and partnerships where appropriate.
  • Map, manage, and monitor all relevant external interfaces and partnerships across infrastructure and connectivity
  • Leverage external expertise to support delivery of workforce infrastructure and connectivity solutions for our business
  • Enable data sharing across partners to support seamless partnership working and collaboration opportunities
  • Anticipate and share the social, economic, and environmental impacts of large-scale workforce enablement activities.
  • Partner with sustainability and community teams to ensure new builds contribute positively to local economies and uphold BAE Systems' social licence to operate.
  • Provide consistent and credible representation at key external forums and partnerships (e.g., Team Barrow, Planning, Transport ), ensuring that business needs are clearly articulated and understood.
  • Represent the business consistently and professionally to enhance reputation, strengthen influence, and maintain our social licence to operate.

This role will require you to hold or be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC). You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship and have lived and worked in the UK for a minimum 5 year period.
