We are seeking experienced Platers / Fabricators to join our shipyard team on a rolling contract, supporting increased demand across ship repair, dock maintenance, and marine engineering projects.
This role is ideal for individuals looking to transition from offshore rotations into a stable, local position while leveraging their marine, offshore, or oil & gas structural fabrication experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out heavy fabrication and plating work on marine vessels and dock structures.
- Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, schematics, and fabrication plans.
- Fabricate and fit plate, structural sections, bulkheads, frames, and other steel components.
- Undertake ship repair activities including removal, replacement, and installation of structural steelwork.
- Assist with dockyard maintenance tasks
- Use cutting, burning, grinding, and forming tools to prepare and assemble materials.
- Ensure all fabrication work meets required tolerances, standards, and safety specifications.
- Work safely in a shipyard environment, following all safety procedures and permit systems.
- Collaborate with supervisors and other trades to deliver work to schedule and quality targets.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Plater / Fabricator within a shipyard, marine, offshore, or oil & gas setting.
- Strong ability to work from drawings and fabricate to tight tolerances.
- Competence in steel preparation, fitting, and structural assembly.
- Experience working on heavy steel, vessel structures, or large industrial fabrications.
- Strong understanding of safety practices in a high‑risk engineering environment.
- Fit for physical work in varied conditions (heights, confined spaces, outdoor areas).
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
