Sub Agent - Major Civil Engineering (HS2)

Location: Near Wendover, Buckinghamshire (HP17 0TQ)
Salary: Up to £55,000 + Excellent Benefits Package
Matchtech is proud to be recruiting on behalf of EKFB, the joint venture delivering civil engineering works on an 80km section of HS2 between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. We are seeking an experienced Sub Agent to join their engineering team based near Wendover.

Package & Benefits

• Salary: Up to £55,000
• Lodging Allowance: £22,000-£24,000 (only for candidates living 50+ miles from site; must stay within 15 miles of the agreed site to claim)
• Travel Allowance: 33p per mile
• Car Allowance: £3,500-£4,500 (dependent on experience)
• Annual Leave: 25 days + bank holidays

The Role

As a Sub Agent, you will play a key role in supporting the construction strategy and ensuring successful delivery of works to programme, budget and quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting construction strategy, including kick‑off meetings and pre‑commencement documentation (method statements, environmental and quality plans, programmes, procurement schedules, design deliverables)
• Working closely with the Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant, materials and temporary works
• Managing the site engineering team and overseeing the development of Site and Section Engineers
• Coordinating construction operations to ensure compliance with contract requirements and SHEQ standards
• Assisting with programme development, progress reporting, resource and cost planning
• Contributing to financial forecasting, site measurement, material reconciliation and cost control

About You

Essential:

• HNC/Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction (or equivalent)
• Progressing toward professional membership (ICE or equivalent)
• Strong understanding and practical application of site engineering and construction supervision
• Experience in heavy structures, with some exposure to highways work
• Full UK driving licence and own transport (remote site access required)
• Valid CSCS card (White, White-Yellow, Red - Experienced, Black - Manager or Gold - Supervisor)
• SMSTS or SSSTS certification
