Senior Buyer

We are supporting a high‑performance engineering organisation operating in a fast‑paced, precision‑driven environment. They are now seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to take ownership of a defined commodity area and play a key role in supporting both project and production requirements.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing the full purchasing lifecycle for your assigned scope, working closely with internal stakeholders and a global supplier base to ensure delivery, quality, and cost targets are met.

Key Duties

  • Manage end‑to‑end procurement activities aligned to project and production timelines
  • Raise and manage purchase orders ensuring compliance with quality, delivery, and cost objectives
  • Conduct RFQs, evaluate suppliers, negotiate commercial terms, and oversee order fulfilment
  • Track and manage supplier performance across quality, cost, and delivery, implementing corrective actions where required and escalating key issues when necessary
  • Support supplier identification, onboarding, and audit activity in line with procurement strategy
  • Maintain clear reporting and KPIs for your commodity area, providing regular updates to senior stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with planning, engineering, and related teams to agree priorities and manage critical items
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing more efficient processes and ways of working

About You

  • Degree qualified, ideally within an engineering discipline
  • Proven purchasing experience within motorsport, aerospace, automotive, or other high‑precision engineering sectors
  • Confident interpreting and working from mechanical technical drawings
  • Experience supporting prototype or low‑volume production environments
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent analytical and negotiation skills
  • Good understanding of mechanical components, with some exposure to composite materials
  • Advanced user of MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Detail‑oriented, resilient, and collaborative, with a proactive problem‑solving mindset
