1. Core Purpose
To lead the technical transition of onshore SQL Database resources into certified Epic ODBA and Cogito professionals. You will manage the dual-track of Technical Environment Build (Infrastructure) and Workforce Transformation (Training), ensuring the "Human Capital" is as ready for Azure as the "Platform" is.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Workforce Transformation & Training Roadmap
Skills Gap Mapping: Assess existing onshore SQL DB skills against the rigorous requirements of Epic's Chronicles (ODB) and Clarity/Caboodle (Cogito) architectures.
Certification Management: Design and enforce a strict training timeline to ensure all team members achieve Epic ODBA and Cogito Fundamentals certifications by the May-26 deadline.
Knowledge Retention: Strategy development to ensure "Onshore" remains the primary support model, reducing dependency on external consultants and keeping intellectual property within the Trust/Organization.
B. Technical Sprint Planning (Azure & Epic)
Backlog Grooming: Translate complex Epic infrastructure requirements (e.g., setting up the Cogito Data Warehouse on Azure) into digestible Agile user stories.
Sprint Execution: Lead the "Tech-Build Squad" in the deployment of ODBA environments, ensuring high-availability and disaster recovery protocols align with Barclays/NHS standards.
Dependency Mapping: Coordinate with the Azure Platform Engineers to ensure the underlying storage and compute are optimized for the heavy I/O demands of an Epic database.
C. Onshore Resource Coordination
Squad Leadership: Act as the Scrum Master/Delivery Lead for the onshore SQL-to-Epic transition team.
Stakeholder Liaison: Work closely with Magda (Data Mgmt) and Vibhor (Purview) to ensure the Cogito reporting layer integrates seamlessly with the Purview data governance framework.
Performance Tracking: Monitor "Velocity" not just in terms of code, but in terms of learning milestones and certification pass rates.
3. Required Technical Background
Legacy SQL Mastery: Deep understanding of SQL Server, T-SQL, and traditional ETL processes.
Epic Ecosystem Knowledge: Familiarity with the Epic 3nd-tier architecture (Caché/IRIS, Clarity, Caboodle).
Azure Infrastructure: Understanding of Azure SQL Managed Instances, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), and Synapse Analytics.
Agile Proficiency: Expert level in Jira/Azure DevOps (ADO) for tracking technical delivery.
4. Critical Success Factors (The "Definition of Done" for Jun-26)
Certification: 100% of identified onshore SQL staff are ODBA/Cogito certified.
Environment Readiness: The Cogito Data Warehouse is fully provisioned on Azure and passing performance stress tests.
Governance: All new Epic data structures are registered and classified within Microsoft Purview.
