Design Engineer - Aerospace (Landing Gear Systems)

We are working with a leading engineering consultancy that partners closely with global aviation OEMs and Tier 1 manufacturers. This organisation specialises in the design, certification, and production of complex aerospace systems, and they are now seeking skilled Design Engineers to support major commercial and defence aircraft programmes.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a world-class engineering team contributing to the full lifecycle of landing gear systems and other advanced aerostructures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the design and development of aerospace components and systems in line with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.
- Produce high-quality 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Conduct engineering analyses including stress, tolerance, fatigue, and FEA-based assessments.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant aerospace certification standards (EASA/CAA/FAA).
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and technical discussions with customers and internal teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups including manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and programme management.
- Manage change control, configuration management, and engineering documentation processes.
- Provide engineering support during prototype builds, testing, qualification, and production.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and innovation in design methodologies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
- Proven aerospace design engineering experience-ideally within landing gear, aerostructures, hydraulics, braking systems
- Strong understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience using CAD tools such as CATIA, Siemens NX, or SolidWorks.
- Familiarity with PLM systems and configuration management.
- Working knowledge of stress analysis and validation methodologies.
- Experience with aerospace certification processes is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, technical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, international environment.
- Eligibility to work in the UK and ability to obtain security clearance (if required).
