Our client, a leading organisation in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking an experienced RF Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of defence technology, developing cutting-edge radars for advanced fighter jets and innovative maritime and airborne surveillance systems. You will have the chance to bring your expertise into a dynamic work environment, contributing to the development of multifunctional RF, PCB, and Module designs using the latest technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the full Rf lifecycle, from system concept through detailed design, prototyping, testing, and verification, to system integration and production support.
  • Creating high-quality and robust designs, conducting design reviews, fully documenting and recording work products, and keeping them under configuration management.
  • Designing multifunctional RF PCB and Module designs, enhancing your understanding of key design and manufacturing processes.
  • Developing test prototypes for design validation and verification of development models, and supporting production tests.
  • Carrying out detailed design activities from requirements capture to design verification.
  • Ensuring successful completion of design reviews.
  • Preparing robust manufacturing data packs and providing technical support to sub-contracts and manufacturing interfaces.
  • Collaborating closely with Systems, Test, and Electronics engineers to solve integration problems on advanced systems.

Job Requirements:


Experience in the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Microwave PCB materials and design techniques
  • RF Microwave Sub-System Design
  • Microwave design tools such as AWR, VSS, ADS, Systemvue, and Matlab
  • EM 3D and 2D simulation techniques, e.g. CST
  • GaAs/GaN MMIC design and application
  • RF Synthesiser design using DDS and PLL technologies
  • RF downconverter and digitiser design
  • Design of passive microwave structures
  • Low phase noise design and measurement
  • Non-linear circuit simulation
  • PCB schematic capture tools, e.g. Mentor
  • Lab measurements including signal generation, spectrum analysis, and vector network analysis
  • Microwave component selection
  • Requirements capture and management
  • Technical report writing, design reviews, and lifecycle management
  • Design for manufacture and cost
