Our client, a public sector organisation in London, is currently seeking a Highways Development Management Officer on a contract basis. This role is essential in managing development impacts on the highways network and ensuring compliance with planning obligations, such as S106 agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing development proposals to ascertain their impact on the highways network
  • Ensuring compliance with S106 agreements and other relevant planning obligations
  • Providing technical advice on highway development matters to developers and stakeholders
  • Coordinating development-related highway works and liaising with contractors
  • Preparing technical reports and contributing to planning consultations
  • Reviewing and approving highway layouts and accesses proposed by developers
  • Managing and monitoring development works to ensure they meet required standards
  • Collaborating with internal and external partners to facilitate successful project delivery

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in development management related to highways
  • Understanding of S106 agreements and their application in development projects
  • Strong knowledge of highways design principles and standards
  • Ability to assess and mitigate development impacts on the highways network
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in preparing technical reports and documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification in civil engineering or a related discipline
