Our client, a leading organisation in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Systems Engineer - Navigation Sensors to join their team. This permanent role offers the opportunity to work on some of the most advanced defence systems in the world, with a focus on navigation sensor technologies. The team is highly motivated, collaborative, and dedicated to excellence, providing a dynamic environment to grow your skills and experience.

This role is to be based from Hertfordshire or Bristol.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specification and assessment of navigation sensors, including GNSS receivers, anti-jam units, and inertial measurement units
  • Monitoring supplier and technology roadmaps to identify cutting-edge technology for investment
  • Supporting sub-assembly and equipment assessment trials
  • Undertaking research activities as part of an international team
  • Collaborating closely with related teams, including frequent interaction with the navigation sensors team in France
  • Developing new and innovative solutions to complex customer requirements
  • Participating in several multi-national research programmes

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in the defence or aerospace industry, with a degree in electronic engineering, physics, or a similar field
  • Technical knowledge in navigation systems, avionics, or RF engineering
  • Project management skills, delivery capabilities, and commercial awareness
  • Proficiency with modelling tools such as MATLAB and/or Simulink is advantageous
  • Understanding of GNSS functionality, multi-constellation technology, and system integration
  • Knowledge of receivers, anti-jam systems, and CRPA's
  • Familiarity with GNSS system chain performance and integration challenges
  • Experience with GNSS jamming and spoofing
  • Understanding of inertial sensor specification and characterisation
