Hours: 10 hours per day, Monday-Friday

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Steel Erector to join our team on a major structural steel package based near London Bridge. The successful candidate will be responsible for steel erection, bolting-up, working at height, and supporting lifting operations using their slinger/signaller competency and IPAF operation skills. This is a long-term role offering stable, full‑time work over a 6‑month project period.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Steel Installation
- Erect structural steel frames including beams, columns, rafters, and bracing.
- Carry out bolting, torqueing, alignment, and final fix to engineering specifications.
- Read and interpret steel fabrication drawings, connection details, and site instructions.
- Install platforms, secondary steel, walkways, guardrails, and associated steel components.
Lifting Operations (Slinger/Signaller Duties)
- Assist crane and lifting teams with safe load attachment and signalling.
- Manage exclusion zones and ensure all lifting activities comply with site safety rules.
- Communicate clearly with crane operators to ensure controlled movement of materials.
MEWP Operation (IPAF)
- Operate MEWPs (3a/3b) for working at height during steel erection and fixing.
- Conduct pre‑start checks and ensure the safe use of powered access equipment.
Health, Safety & Site Compliance
- Work in accordance with RAMS and site operating procedures.
- Participate in toolbox talks and follow all site health & safety protocols.
- Ensure correct use of PPE and harnesses for working at height.
- Report hazards and contribute proactively to site safety culture.
Teamwork & Coordination
- Work alongside supervisors, crane teams, welders, and other site trades.
- Support delivery of the steel erection programme within project timelines.
- Communicate progress, issues, or clashes clearly to site management.
Requirements
- Valid CSCS Gold Card or Skilled Worker Card (essential).
- Certified Slinger/Signaller ticket.
- IPAF 3a/3b licence.
- Minimum 3 years' experience erecting structural steel.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Confidence working at height and using MEWPs.
- Strong understanding of safe lifting and site safety practices.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Harness inspection or working at height certification.
- Manual handling training.
- Experience working on major London structural steel projects.
- Previous civils, rail, or infrastructure project experience.
