Semi‑Skilled Fitter (Structural Steel)
Location: Near London Bridge
Hours: 10 hours per day, Monday-Friday

- IPAF Licence (3a/3b)
- Own basic hand tools
Overview
We are seeking a reliable and competent Semi‑Skilled Fitter to support a structural steel contractor on a busy project near London Bridge. The role involves assisting with the installation, assembly, and fixing of structural and secondary steelwork on site. This is a hands‑on position suitable for someone with practical site experience, strong work ethic, and the ability to work safely with tools and access equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Steel Assembly & Installation
- Assist fitters and erectors with the installation of structural and secondary steel components (brackets, handrails, floor plates, frames, supports).
- Carry out basic fitting tasks including drilling, bolting, aligning, and positioning steel members.
- Support snagging, adjustments, and on‑site modifications under supervision.
- Handle materials safely and help with movement, positioning, and setup.
MEWP Operation (IPAF)
- Operate MEWPs (3a/3b) to support working at height.
- Conduct basic pre‑use checks and ensure equipment is used safely.
Tools & Equipment
- Use personal basic hand tools such as spanners, sockets, tape measures, levels, and drills.
- Maintain tools in good working condition and report any issues promptly.
- Assist in setting up temporary work platforms, tools, and site equipment.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow site RAMS, toolbox talks, and health & safety procedures at all times.
- Wear correct PPE and adhere to working‑at‑height and access procedures.
- Maintain clean and tidy work areas and support safe working practices.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work closely with steel fitters, erectors, supervisors, and lifting teams.
- Follow instructions accurately and communicate issues or delays promptly.
- Contribute to a positive, safe, and efficient site environment.
Requirements
- CSCS Card (minimum requirement).
- Valid IPAF licence (3a/3b).
- Experience working on construction or steel‑related projects.
- Ability to read basic drawings or follow fitting instructions.
- Competent using hand tools and working at height.
- Physically fit, punctual, and safety conscious.
- Own basic hand tools (essential).
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable (Not Essential)
- PASMA card.
- Manual Handling or Working at Height training.
- Experience working with structural or secondary steel.
- Previous experience on major London projects.
