Hours: 10 hours per day, Monday-Friday

- IPAF / PASMA (preferred but not essential)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and fully coded MMA/Stick Welder to join a structural steel specialist working on a major project near London Bridge. The role involves carrying out high‑quality structural welding on beams, columns, plates and heavy steel fabrications in a busy, safety‑critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Welding & Fabrication
- Perform coded MMA/Stick welding to structural steel standards.
- Weld structural members including columns, beams, stiffeners, base plates, connection plates, and various heavy steel components.
- Carry out positional welding (e.g., vertical, overhead) in line with project specifications.
- Complete repairs, modifications, and site welding as required.
- Ensure all welds meet quality, visual, and NDT requirements where applicable.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Maintain up‑to‑date welding coding's and produce certification when requested.
- Follow welding procedures (WPS) and project ITPs.
- Complete weld logs, traceability sheets, and sign‑off documentation when required.
- Work closely with site supervisors and quality inspectors.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Adhere to all site safety protocols and RAMS.
- Use correct PPE at all times, including welding masks, gloves, fire‑retardant clothing, and respiratory protection where needed.
- Maintain safe working areas, especially when hot‑work permits are in place.
Access & Equipment
- Operate MEWPs (if holding IPAF) or scaffold towers (if holding PASMA) for welding at height.
- Conduct pre‑use checks on tools, welding sets, cables, leads, and gas equipment.
Requirements
- Valid CSCS Skilled Worker Card.
- Current, in‑date MMA/Stick welding codings (e.g., fillet/butt in multiple positions).
- Proven experience welding structural steel on construction or infrastructure projects.
- Ability to read fabrication drawings and weld symbols.
- Strong understanding of structural steel erection and site welding requirements.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently or within a team.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
Preferred (Not Essential)
- IPAF 3a/3b licence.
- PASMA - Tower assembly/dismantling.
- Experience on high‑rise, bridge, rail or major London projects.
- Additional tickets such as Manual Handling, Working at Height, or Hot‑Works certification.
