Our client. is seeking a highly skilled Structures Senior Engineer to join their Highways team on a contract basis. This role offers a blend of remote working and office presence, focusing on a range of infrastructure projects within the council's responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake work on road bridges, foot bridges, culverts, subways, retaining walls, and gantry assets as part of the planned structures maintenance programme.
  • Design and support the development of highway structures schemes, managing projects from concept to construction.
  • Produce and review design drawings, specifications, tender documents, and preconstruction information.
  • Develop the planned programme based on asset management prioritisation.
  • Ensure project delivery within budget, on schedule, and in compliance with technical standards and legal obligations.
  • Conduct visual, general, and principal inspections on site, and assess information through desktop studies and asset management software.
  • Manage contracts and team performance to deliver services effectively.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders to meet infrastructure objectives.
  • Drive innovation in highway structures and asset management.

Job Requirements:

  • Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers.
  • Relevant Engineering qualification (RQF Level 4-7).
  • Specific knowledge in the design and construction of bridges and highway structures, including design codes (British Standards, DMRB Standards).
  • Experience in managing bridge and highway structures projects, and supervising construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of Eurocodes.
  • Proficiency in Finite Element and Grillage software packages, e.g., LUSAS and ENCAD.
  • Experience undertaking bridge inspections according to the Inspection Manual for Highway Structures.
  • Understanding of duties under CDM 2015 Regulations.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and supervise the design work of other team members.
  • Ability to fulfil travel requirements of the role and willingness to work in a hybrid setup.
