My client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and forward‑thinking Chief Finance Officer to lead financial strategy within a large, complex public sector organisation. This is a senior leadership role with broad strategic influence across all financial, planning and operational functions.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will provide expert leadership across financial management, revenue collection, welfare and benefit services, and debt recovery.
You will play a key role in shaping financial sustainability, driving transformation programmes and ensuring efficient, effective delivery of statutory and operational finance functions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Finance Leadership
- Lead and oversee organisational budget planning, treasury management, and financial monitoring.
- Provide clear financial insight to support senior leadership decision‑making.
Transformation & Improvement
- Lead major elements of the organisation's financial improvement and transformation plans.
- Ensure the timely and effective delivery of efficiency initiatives and service improvements.
Reporting & Governance
- Produce strategic reports, briefing papers and performance updates.
- Support robust governance, scrutiny and transparent decision‑making.
Stakeholder & Partnership Work
- Work collaboratively with senior leaders, internal stakeholders and elected members (where applicable).
- Build productive relationships with external partners and professional networks.
