Control Systems Engineer - Motorsport

Location: Silverstone, Towcester, Brackley, Banbury, Northampton, Milton Keynes

An exceptional opportunity to join a world‑class motorsport team, working at the forefront of control systems engineering. This permanent onsite role allows you to directly influence Formula One car performance, collaborating with industry experts in a fast‑paced, high‑tech environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced electronic control systems for on‑car use, simulators (HIL/DIL), and test facilities
  • Own projects end‑to‑end: specification, implementation, testing, delivery, and ongoing support
  • Build software/tools for calibration, data monitoring, analysis, and performance optimisation
  • Support development of standard ECU software and calibrations
  • Investigate control system issues using telemetry, HIL and SIL tools
  • Create HIL simulations and plant models to enhance test coverage
  • Contribute to coding standards and systems engineering methods
  • Provide factory-based race and test support

Key Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Electronics, Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics or related field
  • Proven Motorsport experience
  • Strong control theory knowledge with excellent analytical/mathematical skills
  • Experience modelling/measuring mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Proven real-time control software development using Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow and auto‑coding
  • Knowledge of high‑speed data acquisition and analysis
  • Experience with McLaren Applied tools such as System Monitor or ATLAS (advantageous)
