A world-class advanced electronics manufacturer who support several key sectors, are urgently seeking an experienced Commercial Manager with proven bids experience to join their commercial team in Newport.

As Commercial Manager, you will drive forward the bid and quotation team, owning the end‑to‑end process for generating accurate, timely and commercially robust quotations for new and existing customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the bid/quotation and documentation control teams
  • Deliver accurate, on-time quotations across multiple customers and sectors
  • Engage with customers on technical and commercial queries
  • Develop full cost models including labour, materials, NRE, CAPEX and subcontract
  • Validate BOM structures and manufacturing assumptions with engineering teams
  • Analyse quoted vs actual costs and refine future standards
  • Build and maintain quotation dashboards and performance reporting (Power BI desirable)
  • Maintain Excel-based estimating tools (advanced formulae required; macros/VBA desirable)
  • Lead RFQ kick‑off meetings with engineering, supply chain and programme managers
  • Manage customer communication throughout bid cycles
  • Identify and escalate technical and supply chain risks

You'll coordinate cross-functional inputs from engineering, operations, supply chain and quality, develop detailed cost models, and ensure a seamless handover into New Product Introduction (NPI).

Key Requirements:

  • Strong background in electronics manufacturing or EMS
  • Prior work in aerospace, defence, medical or industrial sectors
  • Proven experience in quotation, estimating, cost engineering or bid management
  • Strong leadership, communication and team management skills
  • Advanced Excel (pivot tables, complex formulae, data modelling)
  • Experience working with BOMs, pricing data and structured datasets
  • Power BI reporting experience
  • Understanding of PCB assembly and box-build processes
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Epicor, IFS etc.)
