Our client, a leading technology consultancy, is seeking a Head of Software to oversee their multidisciplinary software team and drive high‑quality delivery across a diverse range of projects.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead and grow a high‑performing team across embedded software, DSP, FPGA, AI/ML, and firmware.
- Manage recruitment, succession planning, and team development.
- Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a strong delivery mindset.
- Oversee performance reviews, training, and tool investment decisions.
Process & Quality
- Improve and refine software development processes to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards, governance, and best practices.
- Conduct project reviews and audits to maintain high delivery standards.
Technical Sales & Client Interaction
- Support sales with technical input, costing, and proposal reviews.
- Build strong client relationships alongside commercial and project teams.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks on projects.
Project Planning & Resourcing
- Work with other leaders to ensure effective project resourcing and support staff development.
About You
- Proven background working in a consultancy / pay‑for‑service environment.
- Strong exposure to embedded systems / embedded software.
- Broad technical experience across embedded, DSP, FPGA, cloud, testing, and AI/ML, with depth in at least one area.
- Experience leading teams and managing managers.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with clients and colleagues.
- Passion for improving processes while maintaining delivery focus.
- Balanced technical, commercial, and people leadership skills.
- Defence sector experience and the ability to obtain Security Clearance.
