Our client, a leader in the Oil & Gas sector, is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join their dynamic team in Kansas City. This is a permanent role within the pipeline and facilities division, focusing on world-class designs for natural gas facilities, including compressor stations, meter and regulator stations, and renewable natural gas facilities. The successful candidate will work closely with the project team throughout the design and construction process, ensuring that all mechanical plans are adapted to meet budget constraints, design factors, and client needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execution of mechanical engineering design and analysis for natural gas facilities and pipeline-related projects
- Mechanical design of stations and facilities, including piping systems and material specifications
- Preparation of calculations, studies, and technical reports including pipe stress, pressure relief, and equipment sizing
- Development of P&IDs, piping plans, isometrics, equipment layouts, and associated bill of materials
- Selection and specification of mechanical equipment, including compressors, regulators, valves, meters, and relief devices
- Coordination with other disciplines such as Pipeline, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, and Environmental teams
- Review of vendor submittals and technical bid evaluations
- Support for construction activities, including responses to RFIs, field visits, and as-built documentation
- Participation in client meetings and coordination with owners, contractors, and vendors
- Ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards including ASME, API, and CFR requirements
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program, or equivalent qualifications
- Experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in a consulting environment
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API 520/521, and 49 CFR Part 192
- Experience with mechanical design software and engineering tools
- Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software such as AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs
- Attention to detail, team collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
- Engineering in Training (EIT) Certification preferred
