Simulation Training Manager (JFST) - Larkhill

Are you passionate about military training, simulation technology and delivering mission‑critical capability to UK Armed Forces?

Do you thrive in dynamic environments where no two training days are the same?

We're looking for a Simulation Training Manager to join our specialist training team in Larkhill. This is a hands‑on, travel‑rich role supporting cutting‑edge Joint Fires and Artillery training across the UK and overseas.

About the Role

As a key member of our training delivery team, you will operate high‑fidelity military simulation systems including:

  • Joint Fires Synthetic Trainer (JFST)
  • Interim Indirect Fires Simulator (IIDFS)
  • Vulcan Crew Simulation systems

Think of it as running a high‑end, professional training environment similar to a "Call of Duty-style" battlespace-where your expertise enables accurate, immersive artillery and fire support training for UK land forces.

You'll guide personnel through simulated exercises, support live training events using digital tools, and ensure all hardware and software remain mission‑ready.

What You'll Be Doing

Deliver and facilitate joint fires and simulation‑based training

Operate platforms such as VBS3/VBS4 to create realistic training environments

Set up & manage large IT display systems and simulation hardware

Liaise with military training teams to ensure objectives are met

Conduct basic mechanical & electrical equipment checks

Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues in real time

Travel to UK training sites (and occasionally overseas) to support exercises

Assist with updates, re‑imaging, configuration and maintenance cycles

Support change programmes, testing, site installations and upgrades

Mentor new facilitators and contribute to wider simulation delivery tasks

This role involves fieldwork in varying conditions - ideal for someone who thrives outside a traditional desk‑based environment.

Who We're Looking For

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • British Army experience - ideally Artillery (Guns, CP, or FST)
  • Experience delivering or supporting simulation‑based training
  • Familiarity with VBS3 or VBS4
  • Solid IT capability and confidence working with hardware setups
  • Basic mechanical/electrical maintenance skills
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel

Success in this role also calls for strong communication, adaptability, problem‑solving and teamwork. You'll be representing the training team on the ground - supporting soldiers, managing equipment, and ensuring high‑quality, mission‑focused delivery every time.

Location

Based in Larkhill, with regular travel to UK training areas and occasional international deployments.

Security Requirements

Applicants must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC) and able to provide evidence of identity and right to work in the UK.

Interested?

If you're ready to combine military experience with advanced simulation technology and play a critical role in training the next generation of Joint Fires operators - we'd love to hear from you.
