Our client, a specialist in the water sector, is currently seeking a Design Manager with expertise in civil engineering to join their dynamic team on a contract basis. This role is based in Manchester and offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining office presence with remote working. This is an initial 12-month contract with the possibility of an extension, operating inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing the design process for wastewater infrastructure projects, including combined sewer overflows (CSOs) and pipelines
- Coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring project requirements are met efficiently and effectively
- Conducting design reviews and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations
- Overseeing the preparation and delivery of technical documentation and design packages
- Ensuring project timelines and budgets are adhered to throughout the design phase
- Providing technical guidance and support to junior engineers and design teams
- Collaborating with clients to ensure the successful delivery of project objectives
Job Requirements:
- Significant experience in civil engineering, particularly within the water sector
- Proven ability to manage complex design projects from concept to completion
- Strong knowledge of wastewater infrastructure, including CSOs and pipelines
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations
- Excellent organisational and project management skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering
