Head of Finance
Salary - Up to £67,853 per annum
Location - Ipswich (Hybrid)
We're looking for an experienced Head of Finance, within the Public Sector, to lead financial planning and technical finance during an exciting period of change. This is a great opportunity to shape financial strategy, support senior leaders, and strengthen financial resilience for the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical finance, ensuring strong and compliant financial operations
- Provide expert advice on statutory accounting, treasury management, taxation, and financial governance
- Act as a strategic financial advisor to senior leaders and committees
- Oversee year‑end processes, including closure of accounts and production of the Statement of Accounts
- Manage the Finance Manager and guide teams across Technical Finance, Treasury, Insurance, Income, and Payments
- Drive improvements in processes, compliance, and risk management
- Keep up‑to‑date with legislation, financial standards, and regulatory requirements
What We're Looking For
- Qualified finance professional (CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Experience delivering high‑quality financial services in a complex organisation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement
- Proactive, organised, and adaptable
- Public sector experience (desirable)
