Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer


Our client, an established leader in utilities and power distribution, is seeking a skilled Site Engineer to join their dynamic team working on the National Grid and SSEN Transmission Substations. This permanent role is an exceptional opportunity for a professional with expertise in high voltage substation engineering, particularly in 400Kv+ environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and promote best practice in health, safety, and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department
  • Assist with temporary works design schemes
  • Maintain good working relations with client/designer/team, as well as our supply chain
  • Advise engineers on setting out methods and techniques
  • Ensure that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for the construction of the works
  • Communicate with foremen and supervisors to ensure full understanding of information provided
  • Oversee the selection and requisition of materials and plant for use in the construction process
  • Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works
  • Keep a full and accurate daily site diary
  • Ensure that inspection and test plans are completed as required by the PMP/Specification

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in site engineering, preferably in utilities, power distribution, or T & D sectors
  • Proficiency in high voltage substation projects, particularly 400Kv+
  • Knowledge of ITPs, RAMs & Temporary Works
  • Excellent understanding of civil engineering legislation as well as health & safety and environmental legislation
  • Confidence to discuss engineering issues with individuals across various levels and disciplines
  • Ability to produce, implement, and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures
