Our client, a leading player in the utilities and power distribution sector, is seeking a dedicated Lead Civil Engineer to join their dynamic team. This permanent role involves working on high-profile transmission and distribution projects, primarily focusing on 400Kv+ substations. The role will be based in North Scotland in Banniskirk and will require a 10 days on 4 days off in shift pattern. staying away if you're not commutable to the site within 1-2 hours. Accomodation and travel expenses will be covered
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishing and promoting best practice in health, safety, and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHQE department.
- Assisting with temporary works design schemes.
- Maintaining good working relations with clients, designers, teams, and the supply chain.
- Advising engineers on setting out methods and techniques.
- Ensuring that drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for the construction of the works.
- Communicating with foremen and supervisors to ensure full understanding of information provided.
- Overseeing the selection and requisition of materials and plant for use in the construction process.
- Preparing written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works.
- Keeping a full and accurate daily site diary, including any changes or variations, subcontractors' attendance, and records of work-related discussions with clients, designers, and the project team.
- Ensuring that inspection and test plans are completed as required by the PMP/Specification, including checks of dimension accuracy and quality.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in construction or heavy civil engineering projects.
- TWC cert and experience
- 10 to 15 years experience (from graduation)
- Ability to lead a team of civil Engineers up to 5
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience with ITPs, RAMs, and temporary works.
- Excellent knowledge of current civil engineering legislation as well as health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Ability and confidence to discuss engineering issues with people across various levels and disciplines.
- Ability to produce, implement, and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures.
