Job Overview

To provide timely and professional technical support of safe and effective assets and associated equipment. To support the principles of Asset Management to ensure best value to the organisation in support of all assets throughout their operational life.


Key Responsibilities

  • To carry out design and development work and configuration change control of technical documentation to facilitate the through life product configuration of all assets and their associated equipment using the business systems and processes.
  • To ensure that the design of plant, equipment and procedures are developed in accordance with E&S Processes and Standards.
  • To work within one or more of the E&S delivery teams and to work with project managers to ensure work is completed to agreed timescales and that E&S processes are followed.
  • To act as a designated engineering signatory in accordance with the E&S delegated authority.
  • To assist in providing technical support to coastal staff and volunteers.
  • To liaise with boatyards, contractors and suppliers in conjunction with procurement and technical surveyors.
  • To plan and undertake technical investigations, troubleshooting, trials and analysis of data at boatyards, contractor's premises and on-board plant.
  • To co‑ordinate / participate in research and development projects as required.
  • To become involved in other ad hoc tasks and projects as required.

Qualifications Required

  • Engineering qualification equivalent to the England, Wales & Northern Ireland qualification level 6 as defined by UK government, or at level 5 with proven additional experience.
  • Able to demonstrate working towards and an expectation to achieve Engineering Council registration at Incorporated Engineer level.

This is not an operational seagoing position, however due to the nature of the role, it is highly desirable, but not essential, that the post holder be operationally seagoing and as such capable of going afloat in all sea conditions. It is therefore desirable for the individual to hold a valid Operational Seagoing Health Assessment and continue to meet the organisation's physical fitness standards, medical standards set for these roles and core competencies set for going afloat throughout their time within this post.


Experience Required

  • Experience of working in an engineering environment.
  • Experience in marine design.
  • Supervisory experience desirable.
  • Project Management experience desirable.

Role Level Consideration

Candidates who demonstrate solid technical capability and relevant experience, but are not yet operating at Senior level, may be considered and offered an Engineer (Electrical and Electronics) role instead of the Senior Engineer role.


Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid working arrangement between home and Poole, with a minimum of three days per week based in Poole.
