This is a great opportunity for a Materials Engineering Technical Lead to join our client's project management team during Pre‑FEED on a multi‑billion‑dollar petrochemical expansion project.

The successful candidate will provide Material Engineering leadership and oversee the quality of the contractor's deliverables. This major CAPEX development includes a world‑scale mixed‑feed steam cracker integrated with significant refinery upgrades to increase olefins production, convert fuel oil to higher‑value products, expand utilities, and reduce GHG emissions.

Applicants must be Materials Engineering subject matter experts with experience on large-scale petrochemical projects (or similar). The successful candidate will ensure the integrity and performance of materials across project operations, and requires strong expertise in corrosion, metallurgy, welding, non‑metallics, refractories, and material mechanics. The role provides technical guidance to contractors, advising on corrosion prevention, material selection, and opportunities to apply advanced or cost‑effective technologies. Responsibilities include reviewing contractor and licensor deliverables, ensuring materials choices meet mechanical, chemical, environmental, and safety requirements, and maintaining project material standards. The position supports design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP, and model reviews to safeguard safe and reliable operation. Additional duties include advising on corrosion monitoring, inspection strategies, coatings, cathodic protection, and degradation mechanisms relevant to petrochemical environments, as well as contributing to vendor evaluation through assessment of datasheets, test reports, quality plans, and manufacturing documentation.

Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder‑management skills are essential, along with prior leadership experience on major oil & gas CAPEX projects.

This role is Inside IR35. Advertised rates are PAYE. The position is office‑based for a minimum of four days per week.
