Our client, a leading company in the power distribution sector, is currently seeking a Senior Engineer, QA & Metering Standards to join their team on a contract basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and govern the Metering Standard and equipment specifications for grid interconnection.
- Review, update, and approve changes to metering standards for emerging DER technologies.
- Provide technical guidance, performance monitoring, and data reporting for DER team activities.
- Manage and enhance metering standards through stakeholder feedback and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee Meter Shop processes to ensure operations comply with Measurement Canada's accreditation program.
- Engage with technical working groups and analyse regulatory changes impacting metering operations.
- Evaluate and recommend metering practices in support of regulatory filing processes.
- Develop and maintain customer-facing metering standards and liaise with stakeholders and contractors.
- Manage Quality Assurance programs to meet federal standards and conduct quality inspections.
- Support the AMI project as a subject matter expert, design lab experiments, and ensure data consistency.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- P.Eng status with The Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA).
- Experience in utility, electrical power distribution systems, and metering technologies.
- Knowledge of electrical and utility codes, wireless communication, and radio frequency standards.
- Strong understanding of the business environment, innovative technologies, and regulatory environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional time management, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, RMS, Maximo, VEE, and metering applications.
