Our client, a leader in the buildings sector, is currently seeking a Building Safety Consultant to join their team. This is an opportunity to join a progressive building safety team working at the cutting edge of industry reform. With the Building Safety Act reshaping how the UK designs and delivers buildings, you'll be directly involved in projects that are transforming skylines and communities. The role includes working on major residential towers, complex mixed-use schemes, regeneration projects, and innovative refurbishments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert guidance on building regulations and building safety legislation
  • Support clients in meeting the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022
  • Act as principal designer under building regulations, particularly for higher-risk buildings (HRBs)
  • Lead design risk management, including fire and structural safety assessments
  • Review building plans, identify compliance issues, and propose practical solutions
  • Produce clear, professional reports and technical advice
  • Advise clients, designers, and contractors both remotely and on-site
  • Conduct inspections to ensure works meet regulatory standards

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Building Surveying, Building Control, or a related field
  • Strong building control experience
  • Professional membership (CABE, RICS, CIOB, or equivalent)
  • Registered Building Inspector (Class 2D+). Senior roles require Class 2F-3H
  • Experience working on complex or large-scale construction projects
  • Strong understanding of the Building Act, Building Regulations, Fire Safety Act, and related frameworks
  • Knowledge of modern construction methods, sustainability, and material performance
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder-management skills
