We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join our manufacturing team, to support the Quality Manager. This entry level position is ideal for someone starting their quality engineering career with a strong interest in manufacturing processes, product quality, and continuous improvement.

You will support day‑to‑day quality activities by maintaining essential quality records, monitoring basic quality performance logs, assisting with investigations, and helping compile status reports for internal stakeholders. This role is required to meet the expanding needs of the manufacturing organisation and the requirements from Customers. This role will be based at our production facility at Fareham.

Responsibilities

Quality Monitoring & Data Management

  • Maintain and update daily/weekly quality logs, such as BMS document register, concessions, scrap, non‑conformances, rework, and inspection results, once they have been established.
  • Support the tracking of key quality metrics such as product quality, customer complaints, and process deviations.
  • Assist in gathering and analysing data from production to identify trends or repeat issues.
  • Assist in effective problem resolution by applying root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, and 8D) to identify, contain, and prevent quality issues.
  • Ensure documentation accuracy and alignment with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Be an advocate for the adoption and of clear, standardised processes across the business and raise opportunities for improvement..

Inspection & Compliance Support

  • Oversee the setting up basic inspection activities and assisting in the resolution of receipt issues through the non conformance process.
  • Review of supplier Certificates of Conformance and identifying improvements required.
  • Support in preparing for internal and external audits by preparing documentation and organising evidence.
  • Help ensure manufacturing and design activities conform to established quality procedures and specifications.
  • Support the rollout of new or updated quality procedures across manufacturing and design teams.

Reporting & Communication

  • Help generate status reports for internal quality reviews
  • Communicate quality findings to relevant engineering, design, and production teams in a clear and timely manner.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in preparing presentation materials for meetings and cross‑functional reviews.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Currently studying or recently completed a qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related field.
  • Good analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Strong communication with the ability to work collaboratively with production, design, and engineering functions.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality principles.
  • Act as an advocate for strong quality standards within Manufacturing and among cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • We are open to candidates transitioning into quality from other areas of engineering or manufacturing.

Desirable

  • Basic understanding of ERP systems and their core functionality, with a willingness to develop deeper knowledge.
  • Awareness of how processes and procedures are structured within a quality or manufacturing environment.
  • Some exposure to using tools such as Jira and Confluence for tracking tasks or supporting documentation (or a willingness to learn).
  • Foundational knowledge of ISO 9001, with training or interest in becoming an Internal Auditor.
  • Competent using data tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms to support basic analysis and reporting.
