Reporting Service Design Lead - Digital PMO / Reporting‑as‑a‑Service
Location: Hybrid - 2-3 days a week onsite in Warrington (travel / expenses will be covered)
Permanent
Salary: Depending on experience

Our client is expanding its Digital PMO capability and is seeking a Reporting Service Design Lead to shape how reporting drives decision‑making across major programmes.

This role goes beyond producing reports, you'll define how reporting operates, how it supports governance, and how it becomes a core service within a modern Digital PMO. Working across project management, project controls and PMO design, you'll translate strategic vision into practical, adoptable reporting capability while ensuring the live service runs smoothly and delivers genuine insight.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate the Reporting Service

  • Lead creation of executive and programme reporting packs aligned to governance cycles.
  • Ensure outputs are decision‑ready with clear performance insight and actions.
  • Facilitate reporting cycles and governance forums to enable timely, effective conversations.
  • Work with delivery teams to ensure reporting reflects true delivery reality.

Design the Reporting Operating Model

  • Define and evolve the Reporting‑as‑a‑Service model-service catalogue, processes and roles.
  • Align reporting to governance cadence, delivery needs and PMO enablement layers.
  • Design integrated reporting structures across schedule, cost, risk and change.
  • Turn strategic vision into practical, incremental reporting capability.
  • Identify and deliver improvements to cadence, content and usability.

Drive Insight & Decision Support

  • Develop structured performance narratives explaining what's happening, why and what needs to happen next.
  • Support senior stakeholders in making timely, evidence‑based decisions.
  • Identify systemic issues and cross‑programme themes emerging from reporting.

Integrate Across Project Controls

  • Work with planning, cost, risk and commercial teams to deliver joined‑up control and reporting.
  • Help define and embed shared standards (KPIs, RAG, structures) for integrated performance views.

Support Digital PMO Evolution

  • Contribute to the maturation of Digital PMO capabilities beyond reporting (e.g., planning, risk, assurance).
  • Act as a bridge between delivery teams and PMO enablement, ensuring solutions are usable and adopted.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in project management, PMO or project controls within complex programmes.
  • Experience operating within governance and decision‑making environments.
  • Ability to design and improve operating models or service functions, not just deliver within them.
  • Strong understanding of value, risk and performance within project delivery.
  • Ability to turn ambiguous strategic intent into practical reporting approaches.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, particularly at senior levels.
  • Comfortable working where data, systems and processes mature over time.
  • Strong data literacy and ability to work effectively with BI and data teams.
  • A builder's mindset - able to deliver today while shaping the capability of tomorrow.
