Senior Project Data Analyst (Reporting)
Location: Hybrid - 2-3 days a week onsite in Warrington (travel / expenses will be covered)
Permanent
Salary: Depending on experience

Our client is seeking a Senior Project Data Analyst with strong analytical capability and a proven ability to operate in complex project and programme environments. You will play a lead role in transforming fragmented, multi‑source project data into governance‑grade reporting across major infrastructure programmes in rail, water, nuclear and defence.

As part of a centralised Reporting‑as‑a‑Service function, you will drive the shift from inconsistent, manual reporting toward structured, Smart Core-aligned reporting products that integrate schedule, cost, risk and change into coherent performance narratives.

You will work closely with project controls, data engineering and AI teams to ensure reporting captures real delivery conditions and provides meaningful insight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, build and maintenance of advanced Power BI dashboards and reporting products.
  • Extract, cleanse and model data across all project controls domains, aligned to Smart Core structures.
  • Drive the production of standardised reporting packs, KPI definitions and integrated performance views.
  • Champion the transition from fragmented reporting to a scalable, centralised reporting service.
  • Deliver sophisticated insight-led narratives, highlighting trends, risks and systemic issues.
  • Work with project controls to reconcile discrepancies and ensure reporting reflects the true delivery position.
  • Lead automation of reporting pipelines using Power BI, Azure and emerging Smart Core datasets.
  • Partner with AI teams to integrate predictive indicators and automated commentary into reporting.
  • Work closely with clients and senior stakeholders to refine reporting for real-world decision-making.
  • Mentor junior analysts and help shape analytical capability across the function.

Requirements:

  • Experience in data analytics, BI or project/programme environments.
  • Advanced Power BI, SQL and Azure skills, with strong data‑modelling capability.
  • Ability to produce decision‑ready insight, not just technical outputs.
  • Strong understanding of planning, cost, risk and change data structures.
  • Confidence working with imperfect datasets and improving them iteratively.
  • Experience operating in governance-led environments with fixed reporting cycles.
  • Ability to challenge, influence and engage senior stakeholders effectively.

If this sounds like your next move, we'd love to connect!
