Our mayor defence client is growing their Systems Engineering team in order to help the Armed forces fulfil the full potential of the system and to extend and tailor the capability for existing and emerging export contracts. The increase in orders, alongside a refresh of elements of the hardware solution leads to a need to increase the size of the team.
As the system design evolves, and the number of units in service increases, there is a need to ensure that the system design is robust and has a high level of reliability and maintainability, particularly in relation to the hardware and software components of the primary electronic subsystems.
The FMEA Engineer is placed within the System Architecture team, and is expected to conduct and maintain an FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) of the System, propose design changes to improve robustness and testability, and support the development of maintenance/fault diagnostic procedures. This includes analysis of various aspects of the system including:
- Analysis of the system architecture, design and behavioural use cases (both internal to the launcher, and for the launcher operating in the wider system of systems context)
- Analysis of manufacturing and testability processes
- Analysis of feedback from operational/in-service use of the system
The FMEA Engineer is expected to combine systems studies with an opportunity to get involved with investigation and experimentation activities in the laboratories, and would suit someone seeking an opportunity for some hands on equipment experience.
The FMEA Engineer will have real impact on what we deliver to our customers, current and future, and in return will provide you: the opportunity to work independently across the company; genuine engineering challenges, and broad professional growth.
