Our client, a leading company in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Configuration Engineer to join their team in Buckinghamshire. This permanent position plays a crucial role within the Antennas Business Unit, ensuring the meticulous management and change of configured items in both legacy and development products. This role involves supporting the Engineering function's transition to the SolidWorks Manage PLM system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply aerospace configuration standards to company configured items
- Manage the problem report and change notification process via the PLM toolset (SolidWorks Manage)
- Continuously improve the change management process
- Run the Change Control Board with Aerospace configuration best practices
- Generate and manage customer approvals and notifications of change
- Ensure quality of design documentation, provide guidance to design engineers, and prepare for quality audits
- Governance and control of the company-wide PDM/PLM systems, including maintenance and development
- Support document and drawing reviews and approvals
- Manage configuration requirements relating to customer contracts
- Generate customer-specific configuration management plans
Job Requirements:
- Engineering background, preferably in the aerospace industry
- Working knowledge of aerospace configuration standards
- Attention to detail, with an ability to read and understand technical drawings and documents
- Understanding of industry best practices for change management and a drive for continual improvement
- Experience with PDM, PLM, and CM tools (e.g., Windchill, AllChange, SolidWorks Manage)
- Experience with data control in both design and manufacturing environments
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work across functions and business units
