Our client, a leader in the power utilities industry, is currently seeking a Director of Utilities to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting permanent role that offers the opportunity to lead Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects and drive business development efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new project or program plans in consultation with stakeholders, including clients, and delegate deliverables as needed
  • Determine and manage the human and material resources required to complete assigned projects successfully
  • Formulate a resource allocation strategy to distribute work and budgets effectively
  • Manage project delivery per plans, overseeing scope, schedule, and budget adherence
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies and contingency plans
  • Monitor and report on performance against project requirements, addressing any issues with corrective actions
  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects, including substations, overhead and underground transmission lines, and distribution networks
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for additional business with clients, upselling services and expanding project scopes
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop proposals, presentations, and strategies to secure new business opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with utility regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements in all project phases
  • Manage the integration of renewable energy sources into T&D systems, ensuring grid stability and reliability
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams specialising in T&D infrastructure

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in Project Management with at least experience in Transmission & Distribution or Utilities projects
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Holding a recognised Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is an asset
  • In-depth knowledge of Transmission & Distribution systems, including design, construction, and maintenance
  • Proven ability to identify and capitalise on business development opportunities within the Utilities and T&D sectors
  • Experience in developing and delivering client-focused proposals and presentations to secure new business
  • Familiarity with utility industry standards, such as IEEE, NERC, and FERC regulations
