Overview

We are supporting our client in recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to lead the development of a major UK offshore wind project. Sitting on the Project Leadership Team (PLT), you will have full responsibility for managing a large multi‑discipline team through the critical pre‑construction phase, ensuring the project is fully prepared for Final Investment Decision (FID).

This role requires strong leadership across Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) management, engineering, procurement, permitting, and project governance. You will also provide strategic technical and commercial input into business cases and value optimisation activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a diverse, multi‑disciplinary, multi‑cultural project team delivering pre‑construction activities.
  • Ensure full compliance with international and local regulations, including CDM Regulations 2015, and drive exceptional HSE performance.
  • Provide assurance that the windfarm can be constructed safely, sustainably and in line with quality, cost and schedule expectations at FID.
  • Define and maintain a robust project delivery framework including people, processes and systems.
  • Oversee the management of all construction and support contracts to ensure alignment with the project plan.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional interfaces across permitting, commercial, finance, operations and site teams.
  • Identify and manage common technical, commercial and stakeholder risks associated with offshore construction.
  • Apply effective influencing skills to drive progress and secure delivery commitments.

What the client is looking for:

  • Proven experience leading large, complex offshore construction or major infrastructure projects.
  • Track record of building and developing high‑performing project teams.
  • Strong HSE leadership experience, including managing compliance and contractor performance.
  • Understanding of offshore construction risks and the ability to provide assurance to senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage contract performance and ensure delivery against plan.
  • Experience coordinating cross‑discipline project activities in a highly integrated environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and commercial domains.

Requirements

  • A degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Membership of a professional project management body (desirable).
  • Minimum 10 years' experience successfully delivering complex offshore construction projects; ideally involving HV systems or wind turbines.
  • Experience representing an organisation with senior internal and external stakeholders.

If you are a senior project leader ready to take on a high‑impact role in the UK offshore wind sector, we would love to hear from you. Apply today or contact me directly for a confidential discussion. Early applications are strongly encouraged.
